Creatures of the Watershed - A Nature Festival

When: Saturday, October 26th, 11:00 am - 4:00 pm

Where: Big Sewickley Creek Fire Hall: 1850 Big Sewickley Creek Rd, Sewickley, PA 15143 

Join the Big Sewickley Creek Watershed Association, Bell Acres Firehall and local environmental organizations for a FREE festival focused on the amazing creatures that call Big Sewickley Creek Watershed home! 

Join us for scheduled speakers with live animal ambassadors. Between speakers, visit with folks from local environmental organizations to see all the awesome things they are doing in the Big Sewickley Creek Watershed! 

Purchase hot dogs and popcorn from the Bell Acres Ladies Auxiliary, paint rocks to deploy in the watershed, and more!

SCHEDULE:

  • 11:00-12:00

    • Free time for attendees to walk around to explore tables, get snacks, etc.

  • 12:00-1:00

    • Presentation by Stormy Oaks Nature Conservancy

Learn about the incredible birds that live in our watershed with a local bird rehabilitation nonprofit! Meet with their live animal ambassadors and learn how you can help keep local birds healthy.

  • 1:00-2:00 

    • Free time for attendees to walk around to explore tables, get snacks, etc.

  • 2:00-3:00 

    • Presentation by Interactive Environmental Program with April Claus

Salamanders, snakes, frogs, oh my! April Claus specializes in herpetology, the study of reptiles and amphibians, and will be bringing along some live critters to talk about their importance in the Big Sewickley Creek Watershed. 

  • 3:00-4:00 

    • Free time for attendees to walk around to explore tables, get snacks, etc.
